About

I help organizations deliver consistent, on-brand, highly engaging messaging both internally and externally. One of my biggest strengths is the ability to take drafted content and polish it to ensure it meets the highest editorial standards and is written in the appropriate tone for the intended audience. My experience ranges from editing lengthy reports for federal entities, to writing feature articles for national publications, creating brand marketing material, drafting press releases, newsletters, and consumer-facing materials for both print and online distribution.

As the senior editor for a U.S.-based consulting firm, I help create communications for both federal and non-federal entities such as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, USDA, EPA, Microsoft, State of Washington, Pew Charitable Trusts, and the Sierra Health Foundation, to name a few. As a journalist, I’ve composed feature articles for national publications and written compelling content for online, print, and social media channels. I’ve covered topics as diverse as gun control, food policy, the safety of vaccines for pregnant women, and more. In 2017, a piece I edited for a James Beard award winning publication that compared school lunches in America to those in Europe was a finalist for the Eddy Best Social Issues Article.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I switched gears and served as the public relations manager for a Native American health clinic on the West Coast. While there, a large part of my work focused on providing a consistent and thorough process for disseminating accurate, timely, and appropriate information specifically geared to the distribution of vaccines as well as the prevalence of chronic disease throughout the tribal community.

As for the fiction I write … I can honestly say it all started in high school when I was inspired by a few of the classics I read in English class. The rest, one could say, is history …
