I’m a nationally-recognized writer and editor, content creator and PR specialist with more than two decades of experience in a wide variety of industries. My experience ranges from editing content for federal entities, to writing feature articles for national publications, creating brand marketing material, drafting press releases, newsletters, and creating consumer-facing materials for both print and online distribution. I’ve contributed to many publications and organizations including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, United Healthcare, the CDC Foundation, U.S. News & World Report, the USA Today Network, USA Track & Field, and Edible Communities among others.

A journalist by trade, during the pandemic my focus shifted toward pubic relations with an emphasis on business to consumer communications. During that time, I helped create and deliver a campaign about COVID-19 vaccine distribution for a Native health care clinic; worked with small-scale operations to diversify their social media platforms and shift gears from in-person marketing to virtual; and used my downtime to study plant-based nutrition through Cornell University eventually launching a blog, Our Flexitarian Kitchen, where I highlight some of my favorite finds including recipes, eateries, products and eco-friendly destinations.

Over the years I’ve covered a wide array of topics from major sporting events to international conventions to topics as diverse as gun control, childhood nutrition, prison ministry, heart disease, and much more. I am passionate about responsible agriculture and sustainable seafood, the emerging plant-forward push, the health of our oceans, and just about anything that promotes simple, conscious living. In 2018, an article I co-wrote and edited on the state of school lunches here in America compared to Europe, was a finalist for the Best Social Issues article for Edible Communities and the James Beard Foundation.

A former college athlete, I’m also a retired runner—injuries and years of over training finally forced me to hang up my running shoes—a sometimes health fanatic, wannabe yogi and every now and then I get accused of being just a wee bit sarcastic. Visit my portfolio to read some of my more recent published articles, or head over to my blog, to get a feel for my voice. Want to work with me? Have a project to discuss or product to promote? I’d love to hear from you! I am always interested in working with like-minded individuals and organizations. Send me a note, Press@ShaunaGabriel.com … thanks for reading.
