Shauna Gabriel is a seasoned editor and communications strategist who helps organizations deliver clear, consistent, on‑brand messaging. She has extensive experience supporting federal agencies, national nonprofits, and private‑sector clients. Her work spans editorial oversight, feature writing, brand content, and public relations.
As a freelance journalist, her work has appeared in national publications, and a piece she edited was an Eddy Award finalist for Best Social Issues Article. She also served as the public relations manager for a Native American health clinic during the COVID‑19 pandemic, leading communications around vaccine distribution and chronic disease.
Shauna is also a fiction writer whose debut novel reached the Amazon top five in women’s fiction list. As for her other projects, she believes our stories are shaped as much by who we are as by what we survive. And after years of reinvention, and a few hard-earned lessons, she’s built a life — and a body of work — centered on honesty, courage, and the messy beauty of being human. She shares her journey on her blogs, The Flexitarian Rx, and The Flavored Word. Her podcast, by the same name, continues this thread with conversations about worth, identity, and the thoughts and observations that surface between deadlines.
A fledgling yogi and experimental chef, she considers herself the self‑proclaimed biggest fan of the em dash and remains blissfully indifferent to the serial comma. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Shauna now calls Charlotte, North Carolina home, where she lives with her husband and very opinionated German Shepherd. (Whom, she is certain, does have thoughts on the serial comma.)
Em dash evangelist. Creator of The Flavored Word. Unreliable narrator of my own life.
